capturing the moments of life

(click on the image to view a larger version)

I love Ali's, Story of Today template. It's simple, it's classic and works so well when you really want to tell the story of the photo(s). It's doubly awesome because you can go completely digital with this template, or go hybrid, like I like to do (only because I'd rather get my pics printed at a shop as opposed to with my own printer, uses way too much ink).

I'm still learning how to use Photoshop Elements however Ali's tutorials have been so helpful to me. I've even emailed her with questions and she's replied back in half a second, despite her busy life. How awesome is she. Thanks Ali!

I plan to make a page like this for the big events: like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays. With a second page with collaged photos and possibly some more journaling.

So, on Saturday night we went to my brother's place in Woodbridge where they were hosting their annual street party. It was a blast. This is my first page, using Ali's 8.5' x 11' template:

The second page will be a collaged page of photos with possibly some additional words.

Here is another page I'm working on with one of Ali's free scripts, Capturing the moments of life, found here:

this picture of X with his first lost tooth so cracks me up. He was so proud to have finally lost a tooth. And so very excited to have the tooth fairy pay him a visit. But even more funny, is if you look past X's shoulder, you'll see E sitting on a chair playing the bongos! Hilarious. Yes peeps, this is my life. Love getting moments like this on camera. So precious to me.

and this:

Little E playing amongst the 'wishes', as she calls them. She so reminds me of little Alice in Wonderland with her active imagination and curious nature. A true gift from God.

These two pictures will eventually make it to a scrap page. I just received a huge box from Studio Calico, the main kit, plus two add-ons, and some other goodies from the shop. Woohoo. Hopefully I'll find some time to actually use all that goodness. Did I mention how giddy I get when I get a visit from the postman! LOL... I love getting scrapping goodness sent to me right to my door.

Ok, back to learning how to use hybrid elements. If you have any good resources, please do share in the comments section below. If you do stop by, please do comment so I can visit your blog. I love blog hopping and learning from all of you too.

Thanks for visiting!

It's Hot, It's Hot, It's Hot In here

(bluffers park, lake ontario, photo courtesy of my hubby)

cause I've got something cooking and it's pretty hot and exciting. I can't wait to share it with you. I hope I can pull this off. I've been wanting to do this for a very long time and now I just might do it after all. On your mark, get set, and go now... yup, I'm gonna do it after all (as I twirl in the rain, throwing my hat up in the air ala Mary Tyler Moore).

I can't give you much info right now, so stay tuned I should be ready in the next little while.

How do you say, 'le exciting', 'le magnificent', 'le i can't wait'....

Ok, maybe I'm just delirious because of the heat and humidity. The barometric pressure is off the charts. Or perhaps it Mondo Beyondo, really starting to happen to me. Funny how this one idea started as a faint little idea way back in the background of my mind, and how it's slowly but surely made it's way into the foreground. And is now taking off in all kinds of exciting directions. My brain is a whirl of ideas.

Hmm. Experimenting with ideas, and leaning into the possibilities and testing the wings. Feels good. Mondo Beyondo, thanks for helping me to put my dreams and ideas on paper, both big and small. This is a tiny step forward. And hopefully many more leaps and bounds to come.

I'm having a euphoric moment right now. Not sure why it's taken me so long to figure this out.

However, I might just wake up tomorrow morning and change my mind. I'm an aquarian. I get bored of some of my own ideas rather quickly. Let's see if this one sticks. If for just a little while. Laugh.
Yeah, I'm nuts.

Here's a little hint, it's gonna be called FnF Designs. hint hint.

And whoever makes the right guess will get a big, fat, nice surprise package in the mail from me (let's just say you'll be one happy scrappin' camper if you win). Yes, to you who guesses what I'm up to. Smile.

Ready, set, go...

Adios amigos,

a little of this and a little of that

i've been a little unmotivated. ok, very unmotivated to be more exact.
i'm coughing it up to the awfully humid weather we've had all week. we've been inside with the air conditioner cranked to 1000, so i guess we're all suffering from cabin fever. it finally rained today which has given us some respite from the smouldering heat. the kind of heat that hits you like a brick wall when coming out of an air conditioned room. the kind of heat that sweat beads instantaneously form all over your body after only a second. that kind of suffocating, unbearable, insufferable kind of heat. the kind of heat that sucks away every single drop of creative juice you thought you had. sucked dry. i'm still waiting for my mojo to come back. slowly but surely the resevoire is replenishing itself.
Elisa, at three years old (and five months) you:

- love going to playgroup
- love to sing and dance
- love to bug your big brother
- like to play with Xavier's marvel superhero toys
- your favorite movie is Alice In Wonderland
- still sleep with your hot little hand on my neck
- give the best hugs and kisses
- won't let me touch your hair, let alone put it in a braid or ponytail, EVER
- love watching movies with me
- adore your dad and love hanging out with him
- have the darkest tanned skin, just like your dad
- want to do everything xavier does
- will eat everything but simply adore pasta with tomato sauce
- are sweet, have a beautiful smile, and a contagious giggle

and we all absolutely adore you.

Xavier, at 6 year old (and ten months) you:

- are pushing every button and testing your boundaries
- want to be independent, but yet still want hugs and kisses
- worship your older cousin Max
- adore hanging out with your dad, and i see you mirroring his behaviour
- have had only two bottom teeth that have fallen out
- graduated from grade 1 and will start grade 2 in September
- love playing video games, especially the M rated games which should be off limits
- will eat us out of house and home with your ravenous appetite
- have boundless energy
- are an awesome reader, and your printing is better than most adults
- fall asleep in half a second when your head touches the pillow
- have the widest, brightest smile that lights up a room and my heart
- still have light blond hair, and white porceline skin

and my world would not be the same without you

happy Saturday everyone.
